The Environment Agency is the leading public body for protecting and improving the environment in England and Wales. They make sure that the environment is looked after by everyone, so that tomorrow's generations inherit a cleaner, healthier world.

The Environment Agency is keen to see the number of sites with registered environmental management systems increased. They will use the knowledge gained through remas results to modernise regulation and increase efficiency. More information on the Environment Agency is available from http://www.environment-agency.gov.uk and it's policy toward sites with EMS is provided here

IEMA logo and linkThe Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment (IEMA) is a not-for-profit organisation established to promote best practice standards in environmental management, auditing and assessment. Its origins lie in the merger in 1999 of the Institute of Environmental Management, the Institute of Environmental Assessment, and the Environmental Auditors Registration Association.

With over 10,000 individual and corporate members, the IEMA is now the leading international membership-based organisation dedicated to the promotion of sustainable development, and to the professional development of individuals involved in the environmental profession, whether they be in the public, private or non-governmental sectors. IEMA will host the remas data collection website until 2011 and is actively promoting the enhanced approach to demonstrating compliance and environmental performance developed by the project. IEMA is also the Competent Body for EMAS in the United Kingdom

The Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA) is a public body, which is responsible for the protection of the environment in Scotland.

Their task is to protect the land, air and water - the core elements that form the fabric of our environment, in partnership with others, and in a way that enables Scotland to sustain a strong and diverse economy.

SEPA sees the remas project as a valuable opportunity to identify the value of Environmental Management and will be proposing a revised policy shortly.

The environment represents one of Scotland's greatest resources and it must be continually protected and improved if we are to ensure economic prosperity and a vibrant and inclusive society.
